The absolute hardest part of this whole process has been saying goodbye to everything about our life: our house, friends, and family.

We are so lucky to have so many great friends and family that we are going to miss so much. I keep saying that we are so lucky to have this sadness about leaving our friends. If we weren’t sad, it would mean that we didn’t have these meaningful relationships in our lives. It doesn’t make it any easier though.

In the month leading up to my departure, I don’t think we ate one dinner alone. We were so lucky that the Covid-19 restrictions were eased some and that we, and many of our friends, got vaccinated early and that we were able to catch up with so many people.

I can’t thank our friends and family enough for all of the dinners, happy hours, lunches, coffees, and parties that they hosted to send us off. We feel so loved, and so grateful. It is hard knowing we are leaving such a solid base behind, for the time.
