Week 32: Getting Ready for Christmas

Our last week in Stuttgart for the year! Monday night was finally our last German class. We each had to give a ten minute presentation to the class for our final exam. We both passed the presentation and passed the class with A’s. Thank God we got the same scores so neither one of us has to deal with the other one’s bragging. Hopefully, we don’t lose too much of what we’ve learned over the break.

Tuesday, I got together with my friends for lunch and an ornament exchange. Most of us were heading in different directions over the holidays so it was our last chance to catch up before the new year.

My ornament!

Wednesday, we had the holiday social for the Association of Military Comptrollers with my co-workers. I ended up winning multiple door prizes, which made it super fun for me.

Thursday night was my work’s Christmas Party, of course at the Sindelfingen Christmas Hut. We finally had some of their food- so good and so big! Lots of wine and gifts, and saying goodbyes before the holidays.

Friday, we finished up our packing and got our covid tests done. All came back negative and we were cleared to travel so we heaved a big sigh of relief, and went to bed early for the big day ahead.

Saturday, we left the house at 5:30 and made the two hour drive to Frankfurt for our flight. The airport was a mad house but lots of people let us cut lines because we had the dogs. Everyone thought they were so sweet.

Carrying this dog through the airport got us lots of VIP service.

We landed at Dulles by 2pm, EST. The dogs actually did great. They were silent the whole flight and only made noise when the plane was sitting at the gate. Our bags took over an hour to arrive and the dogs were whining the whole time. Finally- we were out of the airport, and picked up by my parents and sister, who took us swiftly to Chik Fil A. Now we’re ready for two weeks of catching up on doctors appointments, seeing friends and family, and finally, lots of sleep.
