It’s Matt’s Birthday week! Up until the weekend, we had another quiet week. The only exception was Brooklyn’s Spelling Bee. Unbeknownst to us, Brooklyn decided to enroll herself in her school’s spelling bee and made it to the final six in eighth grade. In the final round the top six from each grade would compete to see who advanced to the school district finals and parents were invited to attend.
We spent the whole weekend prior, practicing the word list. Monday was the spelling bee and started off with 18 participants. All of the kids were really good and they went many rounds without anyone getting out. After round 15, they only had six participants left and the judges made the decision to switch to words not from the study list in order to wrap things up quickly. Brooklyn ended up coming in fourth and of course, was super upset. We had to remind her so many times that fourth in the whole school was something to really be proud of!

Friday was Matt’s birthday and we celebrated all weekend. We had lunch Friday at Brauhaus and then dinner with a big group of friends at the Sindelfingen Winter Hut. We spent most of Saturday recovering from Friday night and then had a movie night with some cake. Sunday night, we had dinner with some of our other friends at Matt’s favorite Chinese restaurant, King’s Palace. And now we’re going to need another week to recover from all of the festivities.
