My parents arrived for their first visit to Germany on Wednesday. We picked them up from Frankfurt Airport and we have been non-stop ever since!

After they got a nap, we had dinner at our favorite restaurant in town, the Seegärtle and it was awesome, as usual.

On Thursday, we let them take it easy, but did give them a short driving tour of our town and the bases, and then lunch at Brauhaus.

Friday, I was off so we headed to one of my mom’s picks, Würzburg; she had seen some of my pictures from the Würzburg Residenz and immediately added it to her list. Even though we had been before, the visit was still really interesting. The tour has actually changed since our last visit to accommodate a traveling art exhibit and the gardens were in full bloom!

After the Residenz, we took a short walk around town for some lunch and shopping. Our last stop in Würzburg was at a wine tasting at Bürgerspital Weinhaus.

On the way home we stopped to take some photos in front of the beautiful rapeseed fields.

Last week, we discovered a biergarten and restaurant, a block from our house, that we didn’t previously know about. We had biers there on Thursday, and Friday night, we met our neighbors there for dinner. We had a ton of good food and way too much wine. It was a great way to end my 35th year.
Saturday was my birthday. Brooklyn had a Girl Scout activity in Stuttgart. So, we dropped her off and the rest of us headed to the Peloton store for my birthday shopping! We had lunch in downtown Stuttgart and then I went home to take my birthday nap.

After Brooklyn got back from her Girl Scout activity, we headed to dinner at a restaurant in our town that we had never tried before, Tower 66 Steakhouse. Ironically, when we got there, we discovered it was an American-themed steakhouse. The food was awesome, Matt and I got a T-bone for two and we all had New York Cheesecake for dessert.

Sunday, we hit the road again and headed to Strasbourg, France. We walked around the city center and checked out the cathedral.

There is a tourist train that drives around and provides a recorded commentary. We’d never ridden it before and it ended up being a great way to see and learn more about the city. I thought we had covered everything on our previous trips, but it turned out there was much more to see.

Strasbourg was also in full bloom and we made sure to take lots of pictures around the city.

Our final stop was a bakery for some snacks for the road.

When we got back home, we headed back out almost immediately to Brauhaus for dinner. My co-workers had planned a birthday dinner for me; they even organized a cake and had the entire restaurant, other customers included, singing ‘Happy Birthday’ in German. As usual, we closed down the restaurant. I’m so lucky to have landed with such a great group of people in Germany.
