Weeks 60 & 61: Home Alone

I spent two of the longest weeks ever at home alone! Just off the heels of an awesome vacation with the whole family, the house was suddenly so quiet! On top of that, most of our friends in Stuttgart, were traveling or back in the States, so there really wasn’t much for me to do except work and catch up on things around the house.

I did spend one day checking out some sites around Stuttgart with a friend while we waited for Slinky & Daisy to finish up at the groomers. We visited Schloß Solitude and Fernsehturm, had lunch, and then the dogs were ready!

On my final Saturday home, I drove up to Wiesbaden with the dogs for a visit with our friends, the Johnsons, who just moved to Germany in May.

On Saturday afternoon, we visited Rüdesheim and spent the afternoon sampling Rhine Valley wines, and walking around the old town. We took the bus into downtown Wiesbaden Sunday night for dinner and more drinks.

Rüdesheim is so cute!

Sunday was Susan’s birthday and we headed over to Mainz, across the river from Wiesbaden, and had lunch at a huge beach bar set up along the bank of the Rhine.

Happy Birthday Susan!

The doggies and I made it back the Stuttgart Sunday night and spent the rest of the week prepping for me to head to the States. My original flight out of Stuttgart Friday morning ended up being cancelled as well but I had enough notice to reschedule onto the Thursday night flight to Vienna, where I stayed in a hotel before my Friday morning flight.

Friday, I finally made it back to the states, and with all my bags!
