After two full months of nonstop travel, visitors, and Christmas markets, we finally had a gloriously boring week at home, and I mean ‘boring’ in the best possible resting, relaxing way.
Since Thanksgiving, we visited 5 countries (besides Germany), one of them twice; 24 Christmas markets, two of them twice; and had nine visitors; all while continuing with regular school, work, and extracurriculars 🥵. Exhausted is an understatement but we have a long, quiet month ahead of us in January. We have no travel plans due to conflicting kids schedules and plan on catching up on rest before my parents arrive for a visit at the end of the month.
Tuesday night, I had a late Christmas dinner with friends to do our annual gift exchange. We ate at the Bootshaus in Böblingen, the first time I had eaten inside and it was so good!

The kids headed back to school after two and a half weeks off on Wednesday. Matt and I both also headed back to work on Wednesday and worked the rest of the week.
Friday was my day off, and something’s that’s really not happened since we lived here: I was the only one off. The kids were at school and Matt had to work. All of my friends were also working and I didn’t feel like going out alone so I hung out with myself all day lol. I have not had to “entertain myself” in almost three years so it was a little hard to figure out how to do nothing all day, but I finally found a good show on Netflix and spent most of the day on the couch.
On Saturday, Brooklyn had a wrestling match to keep score for. Since it was at Stuttgart High, Matt and I went to watch and catch up with some friends who are also wrestling parents.
Afterwards, we had a long dinner at Ritterstuble, an Italian restaurant out in Waldenbuch with friends. Gino, the owner kept bringing bottles of limoncello over to the table, making it a long, fun night. This led to us sleeping late on Sunday and then hanging out around the house the rest of the day to finish off the weekend.
