Week 149: End of the 3rd Quarter

It’s finally starting to look like Spring.

Before I say anything about this week, I’ve realized I said nothing last week about what the kids and Matt were up to over last weekend while I was in the US!

Ryan had another Boy Scouts camp-out called ‘The Wood Burner,’ which focused on wilderness survivalism skills; using only wood for cooking and heat, and creating their own shelters from whatever they could find. The boys left on Friday right after school and didn’t get home until Sunday night.

For the first night, Ryan’s group dug a trench, lined it with a tarp and then slept under a second tarp. He said it was warm, but they got wet overnight. So, on the second night, they built a teepee using branches and logs and said they slept much more comfortably.

Brooklyn had her first games of the softball season on Saturday. She was the starter for the 3rd base position and played the whole double header. Unfortunately, the team did not come out on top but they did identify a couple of things they needed to focus on in upcoming practices.

Now for this week; which was such a short and quick week, it almost doesn’t even warrant its own update. It is finally starting to warm up and everything is blossoming. The birds are back and are sooo loud and it’s beautiful to hear every morning.

We finally completed the 3rd Quarter of the school year. This one always seems longer and harder than the rest! We survived and the kids finished up school on Thursday afternoon. Ryan also had baseball evaluations this week and will start playing the week after Spring Break.

And finally, on Friday night, we had dinner with friends at Abacco’s in downtown Stuttgart.
