It was a short week because I didn’t get back to Germany until Wednesday morning. Then, I went straight into work and to a hair appointment in the evening.
Luckily, Thursday was declared a federal holiday, so all four of us were off work and school and could catch up on rest and things around the house.
Saturday was a home wrestling match. We got there bright and early and were at school all day. Ryan’s weight class (106) did a round-robin instead of the regular brackets. This meant that every wrestler had to wrestle everyone in their category. Ryan ended up getting second place out of five, and he beat the only person to have won against number one, so we were all super proud of him.

Brooklyn also ran one of the scoring tables all day, and we were so proud of her!

As soon as the wrestling wrapped up for the day, we headed straight to Matt’s 40th birthday party at the Schönbuch Stadl. The Stadl is the winter hut set up in the Boathouse’s Biergarten, one of our favorite summer spots. They had a band and we and twenty of our friends got together for dinner and drinks.

We’ve been to the Stadl before, but it was definitely more of a Festival atmosphere this time, with everyone up and dancing and standing on the tables by 9 p.m. In true Gilcrest fashion, we all had to be kicked out at closing at the end of the night!

We didn’t get a cake, but that’s ok because, in Germany, they bring you the Yagermeister Tower instead.

Sunday, we pretty much slept all day except for a brief break for lunch 😅. We are just about caught up on rest after all of the travel and celebrations over the past couple of weeks, and we are feeling ready for an upcoming busy couple of weeks!
