Week 204: Quick UK Trip

We had another quick week back in Stuttgart. We felt really refreshed after our break in South Africa, but waking up to the alarm on Monday morning was tough. The week went by quickly as we moved through the regular routines.

The weather has been a little chilly but otherwise beautiful. Some friends and I met in the Biergarten for the first outdoor ‘Prost’ of the season at The Boathouse.

On Thursday night, we dropped the kids off at school to meet the bus that would take them to Lakenheath, England for this weekends baseball and softball games.

Ready for the long bus ride up to the UK.

Friday morning, I left the house super early to get to the airport and take the quick flight to London. By the time I landed, I was actually ahead of the kids who had spent the whole night driving and taking the ferry.

I traveled with some other softball moms. We picked up a rental car and made our way to Cambridge. It was a gorgeous Spring day and we spent it walking around, eating and drinking our way through the town.

The softball and baseball teams also spent the day in Cambridge. Brooklyn and some of her friends did an escape room and then ate a Nando’s, where we ran into them when we first arrived.

We did not see Ryan, but he and his team toured Cambridge and then went to see the Minecraft movie.

Saturday we headed to the base to watch the games. Unlike last year when it was bitter cold and rainy, it was an absolutely gorgeous, sunny day.

The softball team played at Lakenheath and sadly lost both games, although they were really close.

The baseball team played at Feltwell won their first game of the season though, although they lost in a close second game.

When the games were over I headed back to Cambridge on my own. I spent the evening taking a punting boat trip up the Cam River before an early dinner at the hotel and early bedtime.

Matt stayed home over the weekend to take care of the dogs. He spent his weekend golfing and meeting with friends in downtown Stuttgart.

My flight back to Stuttgart was early Sunday morning, and I was home by noon. We have visitors coming next week, so we spent the rest of the day prepping the house and getting ready for the school and work week ahead!
