Weeks 218-220: Back in the USA!

We have had such a busy summer, I am trying to catch up on updates!

After our week cruising in the Aegean, we had an extremely busy couple of days at work and home; unpacking from our trip, washing, and re-packing for the USA.

Friday, we left home super early for our trip. Our flight connected in Nice, France, which was a first for us, but it also ended up being a ‘last’ because it was so chaotic and we almost missed our flight! They had to hold the plane at the gate and were paging and paging us over the intercom. We had been running since our plane from Stuttgart landed, but the Nice airport is not well set up for connections.

Our whole travel day was actually not the best. The air conditioning didn’t work on the plane, and the temperature didn’t seem to drop below 80 degrees the whole flight. The plane stunk by the time we landed! Then, once we arrived, we found that only one of our four bags made it. It was a good excuse to do some shopping, though!

We had a big family dinner on Friday night and then passed out at my parents’ house after almost 24 hours of being awake.

Saturday was Ryan’s 15th birthday! We had friends and family over for crabs and swimming. We took hardly any pictures, but we did get a picture of Ryan with his godfather, who is his “yardstick” for how much he is growing.

Ryan attended a baseball camp at the Naval Academy while we were home, and we dropped him off on Sunday.

While Ryan was gone, the rest of us had doctor’s appointments, Brooklyn did driver’s ed, and we had dinner with some of my cousins.

We picked Ryan up on Tuesday from the Naval Academy and then drove straight to Ocean City for two days with my parents during their beach getaway.

It was evening by the time we arrived and we had dinner on the bay and then ice cream cake for Ryan’s birthday when we got back.

Alli and the boys joined us the next day and we spent the day on the beach.

We got up early Thursday morning to drive home so Brooklyn could attend her final driver’s ed session.

We spent the rest of the week catching up on doctor’s appointments, seeing family and friends, and practicing driving with Brooklyn.

Matt only had a week off of work so I took him back to the airport on Saturday afternoon. He enjoyed a quiet week at home with no responsibilities!

Over the next week, the kids and I spent lots of time with family a friends. First, we got to attend Baby Henry’s baptism!

Brooklyn completed her driver’s ed and her practice hours, took her license test, and passed! Now, we have another licensed driver!

Before I knew it, it was time for me to say goodbye! The kids would be staying for another week so my parents dropped me off alone at the airport and I was off to Deutschland!
