Week 241: Christmas!

Christmas Eve-Eve dinner at the Sindelfingen Winter Hutte

This was a SUPER short week as we didn’t get back from skiing until Monday night, and then we departed on Friday for our next trip, but we thoroughly enjoyed our three Christmas days at home.

The kids were off from school all week, but sadly, Matt and I still had to get through work on Tuesday. Afterwards, we headed back to the Winter Hutte in Sindelfingen for a pre-Christmas dinner with friends, followed by a bottle of wine back at their house.

Matt had to work on Christmas Eve too, but the rest of us got to sleep in a little.

I started the day at the laundromat since our new washer still isn’t big enough to wash our duvet at home, and it was well overdue 🙃. Luckily, only I and one other person had the same idea to do laundry on Christmas Eve, so I didn’t have to wait for any machines, and I even had time to stop by the commissary while the duvet was running. While I was there, it started snowing! It was going to be a white Christmas.

Snow on Christmas Eve

After I got home, the kids and I finished packing for our upcoming trip and baked cookies for our neighbors, which we delivered. Then, we headed to a neighbor’s for a prime rib Christmas Eve dinner.

We got home in time to change into our matching pajamas and then for Santa to visit!

We actually slept in a little on Christmas Day, well, except for Ryan, who made an appearance on our living room camera at 5am 🤣

Opening presents on Christmas morning

We started with opening presents and then made a big Christmas breakfast. Then, it was time for our Christmas movie marathon. We started with my pick, the Holiday, then Matt’s, Superman, and Ryan’s, Formula One. Brooklyn went to visit a friend, so we didn’t get to finish her movie.

We made lots of FaceTime calls to our family in the afternoon, then got started on our Christmas dinner. Matt bought a rib roast and found a delicious red wine sauce recipe. We had mashed potatoes, broccoli casserole, and fried Brussels sprouts. It was so good!

We all had a semi-early bedtime so we could be up and ready for our early flight in the morning!

We all had a great Christmas! I love having a cozy day at home where we don’t have to go anywhere or do anything, and we spend all day eating whatever we want. The snow made it extra cozy this year, so it was the perfect day!
