We were back in Maryland for almost two weeks for Christmas! We celebrated Christmas Eve, Christmas, a wedding, and New Year’s Eve with our amazing friends and family and spent most of the rest of the trip running around. This has definitely been the hardest goodbye so far, even more than when we first moved.Continue reading “Weeks 84 & 85: Back in the USA!”

Week 83: Christmas in Alsace
Week 83 flew by as it was the last week of school for the kids and Matt. We got an early snow storm during the week. We woke up Wednesday morning to four inches of snow. In true German fashion, all of our neighbors had shoveled the sidewalks in front of their houses by 7am.Continue reading “Week 83: Christmas in Alsace”
Week 82: More Christmas Markets!
We have finally recovered and almost caught up on our rest after last weekend. The week started out quiet, but Friday, Ryan had a fieldtrip scheduled to Ludwigsburg Palace. It was my day off and since we didn’t get chosen as chaperones, Matt and I decided to meet Ryan after the Palace tour at theContinue reading “Week 82: More Christmas Markets!”
Week 81: Innsbruck
After our marathon trip last weekend, we had a really quiet week. We had grand plans for almost every night of the week; to go to Christmas markets, trivia night, and for World Cup games, but ended up staying in almost every night. We each took turns with colds and the weather has been soContinue reading “Week 81: Innsbruck”
Week 80: So Many Christmas Markets
Wow, we had such a busy week, mostly due to it being opening week for most Christmas markets. We managed to fit 19 into this week alone! We started on Tuesday at one of the big, local markets in Esslingen. There are two markets in the city, one regular and one medieval, and we metContinue reading “Week 80: So Many Christmas Markets”
Week 79: Our Thanksgiving
We stayed home all week and it was glorious! We did lots of cleaning, catching up on school work, and sleeping! Friday night, we had a long overdue “retirement” party for one of my co-workers. The Christmas Hut only opened last weekend, and we were able to get a reservation already, so we were reallyContinue reading “Week 79: Our Thanksgiving”
Week 78: Dresden and Saxony
We are on a mission to get to 50 Marriott nights this year in order to maintain our status in 2023. A long weekend with no solid plans, meant we sought out the cheapest hotel room in Germany and ended up in Dresden in the East. We left Thursday afternoon after school and made theContinue reading “Week 78: Dresden and Saxony”
Week 77: Halfway There!
Halfway to what? We are halfway through our tour here! My current exit date is May 2024. It has gone by ridiculously fast. It feels like we just got here (most of the time). The last 18 months have been a rollercoaster! We have all struggled at some point in our new roles; Matt asContinue reading “Week 77: Halfway There!”
Week 76: Berlin!
Another week has passed us by! It was the last week in the first quarter of school for the kids so that meant we were super busy trying to make sure everything was completed and turned in on time. The jury is still out on how successful we were. It took over a year, butContinue reading “Week 76: Berlin!”
Week 75: Pumpkin Fest!
We had some visitors this week. On Friday, Ray and Susan drove down from Wiesbaden to spend part of the weekend with us. Friday night, we took the train into Stuttgart and had dinner at our favorite restaurant, Abacco’s. The weather had forecasted rain all weekend, but it ended up being dry and warm. AfterContinue reading “Week 75: Pumpkin Fest!”
