Last week was Fasching, which is what they call Mardi Gras in Southern Germany. Many towns have huge parades and celebrations in the weeks leading up to the last Tuesday before Lent. We didn’t make it to any of the earlier ones due to everything going on, but I was able to join a fewContinue reading “Week 93: Fasching”

Week 92: Garmisch
Matt spent the week recovering from his surgery. It was a constant rotation of ice packs, exercises, and medications. He was feeling a little more normal by midweek and was able to get some schoolwork done. Tuesday, the maintenance man returned to finish up our bedroom. It was really frustrating that they finished 95% ofContinue reading “Week 92: Garmisch”
Week 91: Matt Has Surgery! & Brooklyn‘s Birthday
I have been getting behind on posting because its been a whirlwind couple of weeks. Things have calmed down a little, so I am trying to get caught up! The last time I posted, we had visited several doctors in the Stuttgart area, trying to find one that could treat Matt’s injury. We were referredContinue reading “Week 91: Matt Has Surgery! & Brooklyn‘s Birthday”
Week 90: Every Doctor in Stuttgart
We saw every doctor in Stuttgart this week, I think! After Matt’s accident on Sunday, we went straight to the orthopedic doctor in our town on Monday morning, when they opened. He did an examination and looked at the x-Ray and referred us to get an MRI. We got an appointment for the MRI onContinue reading “Week 90: Every Doctor in Stuttgart”
Week 89: Matt’s {Broken Leg} Birthday!
Oh man, what a week this was. It was Matt’s birthday week. We were originally supposed to dog-sit for some friends, but they had a change of plans. Since the loud drying machines were still running, and Matt and I have been sleeping on the couches in the family room, we decided to plan aContinue reading “Week 89: Matt’s {Broken Leg} Birthday!”
Week 88: Home Renovations
We had a short week back at home after our adventure up to Tromsø. We jumped back into work and school and spent all of our free time moving all of our furniture and clothes out of our bedroom and closet. Once again, we are indebted to friends who helped us empty the room quickly!Continue reading “Week 88: Home Renovations”
Week 87: Tromsø, Norway!
Last week was one of our most boring weeks and this week was pretty crazy! The ‘excitement’ started on Monday when a heating worker came to fix the radiator in Brooklyn’s room, which had been broken since before Christmas break. He came and banged on the boiler and banged on her radiator and it startedContinue reading “Week 87: Tromsø, Norway!”
Week 86: It’s 2023!
We are back in Germany and its been one of our most boring weeks to date. We arrived back in Germany on Monday morning and as usual, our luggage did not arrive with us. We had checked four bags, full of Christmas presents received and all the Wal-Mart shopping we had done. When we arrivedContinue reading “Week 86: It’s 2023!”
Weeks 84 & 85: Back in the USA!
We were back in Maryland for almost two weeks for Christmas! We celebrated Christmas Eve, Christmas, a wedding, and New Year’s Eve with our amazing friends and family and spent most of the rest of the trip running around. This has definitely been the hardest goodbye so far, even more than when we first moved.Continue reading “Weeks 84 & 85: Back in the USA!”
Week 83: Christmas in Alsace
Week 83 flew by as it was the last week of school for the kids and Matt. We got an early snow storm during the week. We woke up Wednesday morning to four inches of snow. In true German fashion, all of our neighbors had shoveled the sidewalks in front of their houses by 7am.Continue reading “Week 83: Christmas in Alsace”
