My parents are back for another two week visit! We picked them up Tuesday morning from Zurich Airport.

We had a busy week with work and school but we were able to have dinner every night at some of our favorite restaurants.

Brooklyn’s games this weekend were in Vicenza, Italy, where my family lives. Friday morning, we picked up a rental van to make the seven hour drive down to Italy. Unfortunately, there was another transport strike in Germany so when we went to pick up our reserved car, they had already rented it out. After some back and forth, they decided to give us a damaged transit van they had waiting for repairs.

They ended up giving us a Mercedes Vito van that ironically had Italian plates. Not surprisingly, it was dented and scratched up all over. It was the worst (for me at least) because the front passenger seat didn’t recline so I had to ride sitting up straight the whole time but everyone else loved it.

We made it to Vicenza by early evening. It was my parents’ 39th wedding anniversary and we celebrated with dinner and drinks.

Saturday morning, we got up early and headed to Brooklyn’s games. My aunt, uncle, and cousins joined us for the day to cheer Brooklyn on. The team played great and had made so much improvement from last week. Brooklyn pitched amazingly and I lost track of how many players she struck out. They ended up winning both games!

After the games, we headed back to Breganze to visit with family. We stopped in at a Prosecco winery for Happy Hour, where Matt and I each had a glass of wine, which came with bread and Parma ham, all for €6! A bargain! We left with a couple more bottles to take home with us.

Afterwards, we had dinner at one of our favorite restaurants, Cacciatore.

Sunday, we had breakfast in the center of town. My dad and uncle had only been together for less than 24 hours, but managed to dress alike in plaid shirts and vests.

We had brioche, coffee, and gelato (Dad) for breakfast, said our goodbyes, and packed up the Vito van to head back up to Stuttgart so we could pick the dogs up in time from the kennel.

It was a long way to see a softball game but when you look back it will seem worth the effort. I am going to see NHS softball today. It looks like Calvert will be the conference champ this year.

What a blessing to be so close to your parents, that is wonderful. And a chance to see another country as well.
