It was a pretty quiet week after getting back from the US on Sunday. We made it through another full week of work and school, followed by a low-key weekend at home, although it ended up being a little busier than planned.
Friday was my day off, and I had every intention of getting up early and tackling some sort of activity from my ever-growing to-do list. Instead, I could hear incredibly loud thunder from my bed, which was apparently all the excuse I needed to stay there. Eventually, I looked at the clock and realized I had slept until almost noon! So much for an early start.
I spent the rest of the day catching up on errands that had piled up while we were away. Friday night, we headed out to our favorite Italian restaurant in Sindelfingen, Zum Rad for dinner with friends, followed by a few bottles of wine at their house. It was a very nice, and very late, way to kick off the weekend.
We slept in a little Saturday morning before heading into downtown Stuttgart for the annual Stuttgarter Weindorf, the city’s wine festival. I met up with several friends from work, and we spent pretty much the entire afternoon enjoying wine and catching up. There was even time for one of the legendary Aperol towers before heading to our next destination.
Saturday evening, we met up with some other friends to celebrate a birthday at the Paulaner Bierhaus, which is famous for having the best schnitzel in town and their Paulaner Bier. It was another late night and my stomach literally hurt from laughing so much. After a full day of wine, food, friends, and walking around Stuttgart, it was the perfect way to end the evening.
By Sunday, I had big plans for getting out of the house and doing some kind of activity, but we were all pretty exhausted from Saturday. Ryan had spent the day playing baseball with friends on base, so we decided to just stay home. We caught up on some TV, relaxed around the house, and I finished the weekend with a sushi dinner on the couch.
Nothing particularly exciting, but after two weeks of traveling, it was actually nice to have a quiet weekend at home.
